Through Lockdown as digital was becoming the forefront of everyone’s lives EMCCAN challenged artists to use Traditional Mas to meet lights and Digital technology.
18 artists from around the East Midlands have been commissioned to make something for sharing Caribbean Carnival Arrs in schools, galleries and on tour for night time parades.
Thanks to ACE Emergency grant that Donna applied for through EMCCAN, we are able to continue to engage regional self employed artists, as nominated by their local Carnival.
Additionally, this year we were unable to provide our usual spectacular Carnival Parade through the town. So, for Christmas we have decided to brighten up the town centre and more specifically St Giles Street through which the parade always passes with a Caribbean Christmas Nativity Scene. Through an amazing artistic and creative collaboration of Emma Garofalo and Simon Tipping this idea has been brought to life for your enjoyment.
